g l a s s w o r k | p o r t f o l i o > The ARTech Building, Berkeley, CA

Client: Panoramic Interests, Patrick Kennedy

Urban re-development project in the newly established "Arts District" of Berkeley. Addison Street, corner of Addison and Milvia.

CHALLENGE:
Thematic design, public art, color and material consultant: building exterior. Assist in theming, sourcing, representing and facilitating the integration of artwork into the facade of the building, engaging all stakeholders and ensuring a successful result for all parties: aesthetically, efficiently and operationally.

SOLUTION:
Artwork centralized around the Strawberry Creek Watershed. The creek runs underground when it hits downtown Berkeley and the eco-political movement was to "daylight" it. Once this theme was in place artists working in architecturally applicable mediums were able to honor this environmental effort. Placement, attention to detail and working side by side with the general contractor was critical to the successful integration of all pieces.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
Both Panoramic Interests and The Flo Room were acknowledged by the Downtown Berkeley Association with an Excellence in Design Award.

Also, Patrick named Ken Kalman's gecko "Frances" in honor of The Flo Room.
